AMA (WA) FOUNDATION
The AMA (WA) Foundation is a charitable entity of the Australian Medical Association AMA (WA).
The charity was established in 1996, providing a platform which the Association could expand its avenues for contributing to the health and well-being of the West Australian community.
The AMA (WA) Foundation built initiatives that addressed three identified principal areas of need:
-
- Better engagement with young people on health issues
- Provision of accessible and accurate information to empower young people to reduce risks to themselves and others
- A reduction in barriers to primary health services
In 1997 the AMA (WA) Foundation introduced the Dr YES (Youth Education Sessions) programs, then in 2001 the Youth Friendly Doctor program, followed by the WA Youth Services Directory in 2008.
